Spend the time on the things that don't involve scissors: a deep conditioning treatment, or a wash that clears out product buildup. Taking damaged ends off is still worth doing, and arguably better timed here than in a waxing phase, because what you remove stays gone for longer.
The other sign at the top of the list is Virgo, though it earns the spot differently from Leo. What you get is steady, even growth and a calm scalp. These are good days for a precision cut, and the usual recommendation if you're growing hair out and want the ends to survive the process.

Note the condition in that sentence. Small work that can't be postponed isn't something the tradition objects to either.
Virgo rules the abdomen and the digestive tract, so bowel and stomach procedures come off these days in the old scheme. It's among the more specific entries, and one where the tradition and ordinary caution happen to agree, though only one of the two is a medical judgement.
